Developer Carma Colorado displays its 50 years experience in master planned community development
AUSTIN, Texas — Tallyn’s Reach in Aurora, Colorado was chosen from a field of premier, sustainable projects from across the country to receive the 2008 Sustainable Land Development International (SLDI) Visionary Award. It was presented on Friday, May 2 at Land Development Breakthroughs Leadership Conference at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, in Austin, Texas.
Developed by Carma Colorado, Tallyn’s Reach is situated on the northern boundary of one of Front Range Colorado’s last remaining old growth forests, and is primarily a residential community of approximately 965 acres. Innovative land-use design, public/private cooperation, tree-friendly construction techniques, and performance-oriented design guidelines were incorporated throughout the project.
“Carma is very please to be presented with the Land Development Visionary Award. The Tallyn’s Reach community is the type of development that we as a company have strived to perfect for over 50 years in business as master-planned community developers,” said Tom Morton, Carma Senior Vice President of U.S. Operations. “We are also excited to be involved with organizations such as Sustainable Land Development International and Sustainable Land Development Today, which recognize the value and excellence of all types of development and their individual market segments.”
SLDI Executive Director Terry Mock said Tallyn’s Reach is an exceptional example of development that treads lightly on the land while creating a sense of place for people to live in harmony with their environment.
“The old growth forest restoration work at Tallyn's Reach is a reminder of what once was, and what can be again,” he said.
